Did You Know?
John Strange
There are so many interesting facts regarding technology. There are so many things we have at our fingertips, Google, cell phones, texting, You Tube. Our lower income families even have access to computers and technology. India has more honor students that the U.S. Most jobs in the United States use some form of technology on a daily basis.
These facts about different parts of the world being more advance than the U.S. is not shocking to me. We are addicted to all this social media technology. Some of the technology is great. I hope we really don't forget just how to communicate with one another with out emailing or texting.
Mr. Winkle Wakes
Matthew Needleman
This cartoon shows a man waking up after being asleep for 100 years. Mr. Winkle realizes that everything is so different. People talk to each other on computers and even the phone. He felt sick, he went to the hospital. Technology was even there. He didn't know what to do so he left. He went to a school. He was so relieved to find things were just the same there. Nothing had changed at all in a hundred years.
Mr. Winkle has a simply message of technology needs to be seen in our schools. We have technology in our lives daily, this needs to help our students in the classroom. I thought it was a cute way of telling us to give our kids more technology in our schools. Also our teachers need to know how to use that technology.
The Importance of Creativity
Suken Robinson
Creativity is diminishing in schools today. Children are so creative and are honest, and take chances. Mr. Robinson tells many stories with examples of children being creative in their own way. We should give credit to children using this creativity in education and tap into it. Teachers should encourage learning through music, art, dance activities. In public education their are so many diverse learners. This is something we should remember when teaching today.
I believe he is so correct in learning through creativity. What do you remember about your favorite teacher? Did he or she think outside the box when teaching? I can still remember listening to a record with the multiplication facts on them. That's how I learned those facts through music. Children remember the funniest things about educators. I hope they remember me for thinking outside the box.
A Day Of Glass
Corning
The day is filled with technology made with glass. Through the day it is technology that is advanced that would be seen in your home, car, computers, schools. In the health care field, glass shows brain scans, computers, 3-D glass optics. The video even shows state parks and how a glass tablet helps in educating young children about the park. It is amazing how glass could have all these uses.
The future of glass being all it can be succeeded in this video. It was interesting how technology is shown through this video. I thought it was interesting and informative on how the use of glass could go so far. The use of glass and technology in state parks would help inform us on wildlife and plants. The history of the park through a glass tablet. Wow! I would like to go.
Project Glass: Live Demo at Google
Procamera.com
A live audience watches while skydivers, repellers and bikers use glasses. These are not just any glasses, you see what these people see. There is a camera in the glasses. They show the view that the skydivers have jumping out of the plane. Then a view of bicyclists as they ride an and through the building. Repellers go jumping down the side of a San Francisco building. The audience was intrigued by the glasses and what you can see through them.
These glasses were very neat. I had seen these in an article before. I think that having this technology for everyone could be priceless. I liked the views of different people. It is really smart how they went about testing the product and selling it to future customers.
